Longboard on a Long Beach

Longboard on a Long Beach

After the cache at the bridge we get into the car again and the rest of the caches are a bit wide spread, so most of those is done driving.  They are mostly on the foreshore, hence the pictures of the beach here and there.  I love the beach...

This was just a short walk and a tiny bit of a climb and also a reasonably easy find.

Narelle's Seat

Narelle's Seat

High above the water and a bit of a search.  There seems to be a lot of deflection using the GPS near the water, but eventually we got there.  The actual seat is a bench looking out over the ocean, but since someone had taken a seat I didn't want to take a picture of it.

George Watson Park

Just a little piccie of a large fungus on a tree

A clever hide!  We saw the big hole first and thought it was empty...

George Watson Park

It took a while, but finally we discovered this neat cut

Somewhere there...

The above pictures speak for themselves.  It took a while, but once I spotted the neat cut we had the cache in hand.  However, we still weren't aware of it, because the large empty hole had us thinking: has the actual cache gone?  Ha, but what about the tiny hole??? ;-)

Whale Watching at Shelly Beach #1

Under a bridge again!

Whale Watching at Shelly Beach  #1

I don't quite know where the Whale Watching bit came into this, because the cache was away from the fore shore and whales could not be watched from here at the best of times.  The cache was hidden under a bridge again, so glad to have my under-bridge-crawling buddy with me as usual. :-)

A nice short walk to this cache which was easily found and the whale watching aspect was more apt so close to the beach.

Explore Shelly Beach

Explore Shelly Beach

This was the second problem cache of the day, but in such a beautiful spot.  It was a bit of a climbing over rocks to get close to GZ, but... the only likely spot did not contain the cache... or so we thought!

So, we kept searching and searching and the GPS was playing tricks so near the water, although it sometimes wanted us to head back to our first spot.

Eventual Heather wanted to P.A.F., because we were getting near to the end of the day and sunset was imminent as you can tell from the pictures.

It so happened that our original GZ was correct, but the cache had slid down almost out of reach and also out of sight.  We used a torch to eventually locate it and re-packed the opening with smaller rocks after signing the log, so that cachers after us wouldn't have the problem that we had.

The Old Caloundra Lighthouse

The Old Caloundra Lighthouse

On our way to the last cache of the day we passed the old lighthouse where we knew another cache to be located.  The hint was clear, no muggles around, so the cache was soon in hand.  The tree which was mentioned in the hint was no longer a tree, but just a tiny tree stump, however, enough for us to get to GZ straight away.

Kings View

Kings View

The view was undoubtly fantastic, especially at sunset.  The cache? Tricky, to say the least.  I am sure I would not have found it on my own, and in the dark!  It's great to have such an experienced caching buddy with you!

And that really was the last one of the day.  Who knows, we might go back some day to clear out a few more...
