Re-visit of the Openlucht Museum in Arnhem and a visit to Houten

Friday, September 18, 2015

As Leonie and Ferdie had heard of the Open Air Museum in Arnhem as well they wanted to pay a visit, so we did.  I think I took pictures, but they may be on my camera for a change, which is packed for the trip home tomorrow.  They will follow in due course.

One of our last chances of going to Houten and visit Wim and Gerrie, so we did.  Beside our usual chat together we went out for a walk to a nearby fortification. Earlier we had been talking about The Hollandic Water Line, which was a series of water-based defences conceived by Maurice of Nassau in the early 17th century, and realised by his half brother Frederick Henry. The nearby fort Vechten is/was part of the Water Line and an interesting place to visit.
